Rescued Little Owl
Rescue and Rehabilitation of a Barn Owl
A young little owl was discovered trapped inside an oil drum at a scrapyard in Gloucestershire. A worker at the site alerted the Barn Owl Centre, and the Owl was brought into our care.
The owl’s feathers were heavily contaminated with engine oil, preventing normal flight and insulation. Careful cleaning and rehabilitation were carried out to remove the contamination and restore feather condition.
Following treatment and recovery, the owl regained strength and waterproofing, allowing it to return safely to the wild.
This rescue highlights the importance of public awareness and prompt action when wildlife is found in distress.
